Killeen military-to-civilian CDL planning

Killeen drivers with military vehicle experience can check the Texas military skills-waiver process before reserving equipment.

How should military drivers check a Texas skills-test waiver?

Ask Texas DPS to evaluate your military driving experience and documents before reserving equipment. Once DPS identifies the tests you must take, match the permit, vehicle class and appointment to those remaining steps.

Find the right DPS location before booking equipment

Waco is a Central Texas skills-testing location. If DPS is reviewing a military waiver, get its decision before arranging a skills test or scheduling the trip from Killeen.

Office suggestions use the listed locations near the starting city. Your appointment confirmation determines the actual test address. Get Your CDL Quick! provides its in-person vehicle services in Royse City.

Get an itemized quote for your trip

Describe the military vehicle you drove and the civilian vehicle you plan to operate. Ask DPS whether you qualify for a waiver and which tests remain, then book equipment only for the tests or familiarization you still need. Ask which rental charges apply to your test site, what fuel costs extra and whether your selection qualifies for separate complimentary behind-the-wheel ELDT.
